  1. Hi,Nana,
I,thought Denil died few years ago.Today, morning,my batch mate Nihal Amarasekera informed about Denil,s death. He has come to Birmingham to do a bit of baby sitting for his son,who is a Radiologist in Queen Elizabeth hospital. He had no time to see me in Edgbaston,as he is leaving today.Denil had been a friend of mine and I remeber canvassing for him, when he contested for President of Bloem hostel.we were able to defeat Satchithanandan at the contest.
I met Denil, when he came to Birmingham to see his son,who was a Senior Registrar in community Paediatrics. He had survived a stroke previously.
Convey my deepest sympathies to his family.

  2. Dear Sumathi

Dinil sadly died on the 27th March 2018 at QE hospital in Woolwich and the funeral service was held on the 25th April at Kemal Park Crematorium in Chislehurst.
Saro & I attended the funeral service and also saw him in Woolwich Hospital when he was on a ventilator just prior to his death.
I shared these details with our batch mates as usual in our blog maintained by Philip Veerasingham .
I have kept in touch with Dinil and his family regularly.

    Regards

    Nana

  3. I came to know about the passing away of our friend Denil via Nihal amarasekera(well known as ND).He was in Birmingham,a few days ago to baby sit his son's child.I was under the impression that Denil passed away a few years back.I have met Denil in Birmingham and his sister in Brisbane.
I happy to see that you take lot of interest, not only about your own batch-mates,but also other SriLankans.I was able to see your blog via our 1962 Grads blog. Both seems to be connected.
