I
had spent a night at a guest house in Katharagama. Around 5.30 am I
heard a beautiful piece of music, being played repeatedly nearby. I came
out to trace the source of the music and I saw this van selling, fresh
firewood heated, oven- baked bread and buns. This van is called a
'Tune paan van' by the villagers and makes its daily rounds. The melody
is played, to attract the eager customers, needing hot bread for
breakfast,This is quite a regular sight in the outlying villages of present Sri Lanka.

About the melody played in the van, on a music player, in an 'endless loop' :-
"Bagatelle No. 25 in A minor (WoO 59, Bia 515) for solo piano, commonly known as "Für Elise" (German: [fyːɐ̯ ʔeˈliːzə], English: "For Elise"), is one of Ludwig van Beethoven's most popular compositions. It was not published during his lifetime, only being discovered (by Ludwig Nohl) forty years after his death, and may be termed either a Bagatelle or an Albumblatt. The identity of "Elise" is unknown; researchers have suggested Therese Malfatti, Elisabeth Röckel, or Elise Barensfeld." - from Wikipedia
