1965 to 1969 Worked in the Ministry of Health, Sri Lanka as a District Medical Officer at District Hospital, Ampara and Mawathagama. Most of the work involved clinical patient management and Hospital management with over 30 staff members
1970 to 1981.  Worked as a Medical Officer of Health in Kegalle, Vavuniya, Manipay, Anuradhapura, Kayts and as Port Health Officer in Colombo
1981 to 2003 Worked as lecturer, Senior Lecturer and as Head of the Department of Community Medicine at University of Jaffna
2003 to 2013 as Consultant Coordinator, Word Health Organization, Jaffna Field Office
