Extract of old emails, sent to me by Buddy and Sadiq.
Dear Phillip,
I was delighted to see a photograph of my dear friend Sankaranarayana with
whom I had lost contact since 1965. He was the 4th member of our "Ben
Brotherhood" at Med. College. The brotherhood was made up of Sadiq (Ben
Bella), myself (Ben Khedda), Lawrence Ratnam (Ben Hur) and Sankaranarayana
(Ben Him). Our official car was the Mercedes BEN (though we were far from
actually owning one and travelled by bus or bike).
Could you please give me his Email address and/or home address. I must
re-establish contact with him. I would be very grateful if you also locate
Sadiq for me.
A happy new year to you,
Buddy

Thanks Philip for your reply. I was delighted to
hear about Sankar. He looks so well, bless him. He was our Ben Him in our gang
of Ben Brotherhood as Buddy mentioned. I was Ben Bella named after the then
Algerian Prime Minister. It was Buddy and I who invented it. We used to have
fun and the girls in our batch were amused. Bet you did not know all this.
However I am quite surprised that Shankar is still working and as a MOH at that,
in a place like Murungan, which I would believe is not a safe zone., unless I
am mistaken. Could he not work a bit closer to Gampaha?
Incidentally my name is spelt Sadiq. The concept of Sadeeque was introduced by
Prof Milroy Paul. Who used to read out my name as such when he called out our
names in the attendance register at his afternoon lectures, much to the
amusement of some of my close friends.
Regards
Sadiq
