Dear Philip
What a surprise mini reunion,
thanks to the willingness and support to an informal appeal for a mini get
together, at such a short notice of Less than 24 hrs.
Quite a few came all the way
from Kandy and Avissawella and some had come from UK, USA for the 150 year
celebration of Colombo Medical College.
We we very fortunate to get
confirmation for a group booking at Galle Face Hotel after lots of failed
efforts around Colombo.
The location and the ambience was
ideal for this informal gathering in quiet and almost private surroundings
for this ‘meet & Greet’ occasion.
Total of 21 ( 14 batch mates and 7
spouses) were totally surprised to meet some they had not met for years and
not surprisingly few could not even recognise some of the previously familiar
faces.
Gossip and past reminiscences were
shared with flash back memories. The wide spread mouth watering Sri Lankan
buffet was consumed with much delight.
We managed to get the current
contact details from everyone ( some still appear allergic to the use of
email contacts) and agreed to update & share the 1960 medical entrants
circulation list maintained by Philip & Mana.
It was a dream come true and after
the memorable party, every one left with renewed memories and blissful joy.
The following were present;
Amarasekera L.R. (1),
Aryasinghe Vipula, his wife Sushila and their daughter Shivanthi (3),
Athulathmudali Conrad (1), Dissanayake Asoka(1), Fernando Ranjan
(1), Fernandopulle Maxi, his wife Rohini(2), Gunasekera Asoka and wife Ramya
(2), Gooneratne Nihal & his wife Sarojini(2), Kasturiratna
and his wife Nimala(2), Nanayakkara C.S. & his wife Sarojini(2),
Thenabadu Nihal & his wife Shirani (2), Veerasingham Philip
(1) and Wedisinghe Mana & his wife Piyaseeli.
( Total of 14 batch mates & 7
spouses.).
Can I thank all those who agreed
to be present in spite of their ever busy schedule, Vipula & his daughter
Shivanthi for assisting me to confirm the location and the bookings at such
short notice and all other batch mates & their spouses for their presence
and assistance in various ways to make this event so special and memorable.
Wishing you all a very happy,
healthy, peaceful and trouble free future.
Good bye till we meet again.
Nana
