Dear Batchmates,
In these hours of crisis our thoughts and prayers are with you, your spouses and families. We here in Sri Lanka have been quite fortunate as the government had introduced the lockdown fairly quickly and firmly. it seems to be paying dividends with no new cases in the last 24-36 hours.
The number of confirmed cases
stands at 102. Three are in intensive care. No deaths so far.
The places where testing for COVID-19 is done in Sri Lanka could be
seen on the following map. Please click on the web-link provided below:-
The treatment protocol followed in
the Health Department Sri Lanka follows the guide-lines of All India Institute
of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) shown below:-
The curfew is likely to go on for
at least a week. Tough on the people as well as the economy but it needs to be
done if people in our age group in particular are to be protected. We just do not
have the resources -I.C.U. units etc to cope if things get out of hand.
Hope all of you are safe and well
especially those of you who may be in high risk areas like NY or London area.
Our thoughts and prayers are also with many of your children who are doctors
and who may be in the front line already in the U.S. working under trying
conditions not knowing when they themselves may get the virus. Stay safe and we
hope and pray all of us and the world overcomes it sooner than later.
We started a web-link where latest
news of interest from Sri-Lanka re the COVID epidemic and related incidents
will be posted on a day by day basis, starting from today. Here is the web-link
which you could contribute to. Please book mark the web-link below for later perusal:-
