The GMOA President and Mr. J.R.Jeyawardena, the President of Sri Lanka.

It was a time of strife, in the Government Medical Officers Association. It was about to build up into a strike over, some issue. The executive committee was granted permission by the then President of Sri-Lanka His Excellency .J.R.Jayawardena. Around a table the discussion started, with the President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri-Lanka, in the 'chair'. The problems faced by the medical officers, was mentioned. The President of the GMOA, a Consultant Surgeon, in the excitement, addressed His Excellency J.R.Jayawardena as "Your Highness". Needless to say this form of address is usually used in addressing a Royal Head of State. Mr.J.R.Jayawardena, with his wry sense of humor remarked, "NOT YET, NOT YET", to laughter from all round.
