Solar eclipse, 'Biwwa nedha wadakaha sudiya',

In the early 1950s there was a Solar eclipse visible in Ceylon. An industry sprang up producing a drink named ‘Vada kaha sudiya’, which was guaranteed to make one fair and young if consumed during the eclipse. A lot of people consumed this liquor and started vomiting with abdominal pain. This ‘Baila’ relates to that incident and was popular singing at parties of that time.
